Our team in Kenya is happy to announce that classes are back in session in rural Kenya!
Level Up Village (LUV) has been partnering with Kenya Connect since 2015 to facilitate collaboration and connection between students in different countries. Kenya Connect is committed to providing local students with educational resources, including a Learning Resource Center (LRC) equipped with computers. The organization has been an outstanding partner to LUV, running hundreds of courses with us over the past few years.
Most classes in Kenya were stopped in March 2020, so now, nine months later, students are glad to be back to having regular lessons, including technology classes in the LRC. Like many students around the world, kids are now adapting to the new norm of wearing masks all day and washing hands frequently. Unfortunately, social distancing in schools has remained a big hurdle due to a lack of classrooms and teachers. Despite these new challenges brought on by the coronavirus, the students’ excitement to be back in school remains, and they are ready to connect with students in other parts of the world.
This semester, we are fortunate to have Kenya Connect partnering with us on a number of Level Up Village courses, including Global Conversations: The Giver, Global Storybook Engineers, and a custom Social Studies course with schools in South Carolina, Illinois, Ohio, and New York.
