What is the Global Citizen Series: Climate Change?

A virtual global exchange between U.S. and Nigerian classrooms that will take place January 30th through March 3rd.

A course built to address the following global goals and initiatives:

A safe place for students to communicate using LUV’s secure collaboration platform. Students get to know their global peers, create a group presentation on the impact of climate change in their own community, and learn from their global partners about the impact of climate change. They discuss similarities and differences as they compare their respective experiences then explore what they can do to have a positive impact on the local and global community.

An engaging supplement to your existing curriculum. This course does not replace your curriculum on climate change, but rather enriches it with real-world applications of learning. The time commitment is approximately 1.5-2 hours per week for students and 1.5-2 hours per week for instructors. The students create and upload a minimum of one video per week. Videos have a maximum time limit of 2 minutes.

How will students benefit?

Make a personal connection with peers through sharing about culture including favorite activities, food, sports, and school subjects.

Apply STEM and human geography study to a real-world environment. They research and present issues from their own community, and then react to the research of their partner group.

Practice communication skills as they exchange ideas with their global partners through asynchronous videos.

Focus on being solution finders and taking action to implement change in the world.

Experience enhanced social-emotional learning and gain global awareness through comparing their local challenges with the challenges faced by their peers.

Cost

$600 per class (up to 30 students)

Included: Partnership with a class in Nigeria, use of LUV’s secure platform, onboarding sessions, Teacher’s Guide, Video Report Workbook for students, Teacher Resources website, and technical support.
